Cask at the William IV. Very dark brown colour, almost black, with small frothy gold head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, sweetness, some fruity hops, bit of cat pee hops. Taste is sweet, roasty maltiness, fruity hoppiness. Orange and mango finish. Smooth and medium bodied.

Cask @ ACBF 2012. Deep dark brown color. Sucade, plum and lots of dried fruit in the aroma. Harsh oily hopbitter flavor with lots of plums. Floral. Some question marks about the balance, but this is a delicious beer.

Bottle from Ales By Mail. A month and a half past the BB date event though I had just bought it. Still fairly fresh though. Hazy very dark brown with a lasting light brown head. Aroma is sweet, malty, roasted malt and rather hoppy - grapefruit. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 230315

Bottle from The Beerhive. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Light lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, burnt caramel and aniseed. Flavour of coffee and citrus. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture. Faint carbonation. Sits closer to a Stout than an IPA, although it lacks the depth of a great Stout and the hop character of a great IPA.
