Bottle: Poured a hazy beige color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of rustic malt base with light dry hay notes with some light citrus notes. Taste is a very drinkable mix between some rustic malt notes with some fruity ester notes and some floral hay notes with a light peppery finish. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Another winner from RR with an easily drinkable Belgian ale though I must admit that I preferred the first batch that included some Brett.

Batch #11: Hazy golden coloured body with a very thin, very fast dying white head. Aroma of alcohol, champagne grapes, yeast, coriander seed and a hint of curacao with hay and grass noticeable. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy flavour with some white pepper, yeast, hay, champagne grapes, concord grapes and a hint of earth noticeable, all with a pleasant and very mild sweetness. Aftertaste is complex with a lot of grapey flavour muddled with the yeast and hay/grass notes. Overall, a nice beer - very complex, but showing good tastes. I sampled this 37.5 cL bottle purchased from Village Market (in the Ferry Building) on 15-January-2012 for US$4.99 sampled at home in Upstate New York on 24-December-2012.

Bottle at home (Beermongers, Portland OR) - 22/12/12. Despite studying the bottle I can’t determine which batch this is. Bottled 18/07/12 and at 5.15% ABV so 008-010). Lightly hazed pale blonde with a big white head that quickly clears to the edge and leaves a film in the centre which eventually collapses. Nose is citrus, grass, yeast, light spice. Taste is grass, yeast, pale malt, lemon, light sugar, light mineral tones. Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation, dry finish.

Straw blond colour. Initially a soft, malty taste. Later it becomes quite tart. Overall rather bland and watery.

Bottle - Batch 12 - Lots of bright citrus. Lemon, lime, orange and hay with some grains. Hazy yellow almost no head. Nice light hit of quick bitterness, heavily carbonated and light citrus notes. Very refreshing but a bid bland.

Small white head. Clear pale yellow body. Perfumy herbal fruit aroma with mealy orangey notes. Dry-sweet herbal fruity honey taste with mealy waxy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dry mealy herbal fruity aftertaste with perfumy earthy notes. Nice and highly drinkable. Unusual, too. (0.375l bottle from City Beer, San Francisco. 5.15% alc.)

Batch 11. 12.68 oz corked and caged bottle. Pours pale, pale hazy yellow with a small white collapsing head. In th nose, the spicy Belgian yeast imparts clove and banana. Taste starts out sweet and finishes dry and lightly bitter and a bit tart. Tastes like a tame Belgian Golden Ale. There’s a bit of graininess present after the swallow. Highly carbonated and medium-bodied. Pretty tasty.
