Bottle @ De Veldkeuken, Amelisweerd. Dark brown colour, beige foam disappears quickly. Sweet, caramel and very watery, medium carbonation. Too weak.

Clear deep red brown colour, average frothy light beige head, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Light aroma, sweet malty, brown sugar, caramel, dark fruits, slightly roasted. Mild, taste medium sweet, slighty bitter, light roasted malts, bit watery. Light body, texture watery to oily, soft carbonation, light sweetbitter finish, okay, a pity that is hasn’t a bit more body...

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 27 Feb 2015) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with caramel, dark bread, raisins, prunes and roasted grain. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark bread, toasty grain, raisins, prunes and a balanced, spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.

Bottle. Nice dark brown with almost ruby red hue. Brown sugar, marzipan, lots of herbs and German hops, light roasted grains, dried plums. Slight watery texture, medium bodied. Another sub-par beer from de Leckere, though this is not their worst effort, and I like how it's not too sweet.

Muddy dark-brown beer, under a thick creamy beige head. Sweet, malty, chocolate aroma; bit perfumey, as certain pralines with stuffing; green leaves. Sweetish main flavour, but with a drier, slightly bitter, quite woody background. Rather balanced; apart from the wood, again chocolatey flavours (the malt?) Perfumey again too, warming up banana (in chocolate covering). Well bodied and creamy MF; good carbonation. More perfumed than what might be considered the archetypal dubbel trappist - dare I say a gay version? Certainly not bad, but balance rather than complexity.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is sweet caramel treacle yeast red berry fruit. The flavour is medium sweet with a watery light sweet fruit malt yeast veggie palate. Light bitter with soft carbonation. All the enjoyment was up front. It rapidly declined as time went by. Way too light. Needs more body and richer flavours.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch nach getrockneten Früchten, Hefe, Karamell. Geschmack hefig, Karamell, Früchte, leicht gewürzig.

Standard Belgian dubbel. Bit flat and tastes a bit chemical. Could use some more depth and herbs.
