Undoubtedly the best selling among our mild beers, Lion Lager has a 4.8% alcohol volume and is credited as a great thirst quencher. Golden roasted malt in colour with a hint of fruit and caramel flavouring, it is very slightly sweet with less hop notes. The attractive labeling is in sophisticated black and gold, showcasing our strong but watchful golden lion as the king of the savannah, symbolising visionary leadership and power.

330ml bottle at Shabab in Leeds. Clear golden-brown body, dissipating pearl white head, spotty lacing. Modest smell of cereal and distant herbal hops. Mid-sweet cereal to the taste profile with vague moments of fruity hops beneath. Ends mid-sweet. Okay with the spiced Indian food. (Leeds 02.07.2019).

Bottle. Slightly hazy darker golden, medium white head, not lasting. Slightly sweet corn nose, a bit fruity. Mild grassy bitterness, slight sweetness, shorter aftertaste. Lighter body. Surprisingly not bad at all.

Bottle from an online Asian supermarket. Downtuned bready aroma. Light amber. Sparse bubbly white head. Vaguely sour and malty. Some underlying sweetness. All a bit chemical. Light. Thin. Fizzy carbonation. Abrupt finish with continuing chemical aftertaste. Pretty awful stuff but saved from being completely abysmal by virtue of being so low key.

0.33 l bottle at Zagreb Clear pale golden, medium white head. Quite flavourful, grain and corn, sugary touch. No hop bitterness, some fake sweetness. Light to medium body, drinkable, moderate carbonation, light abrupt finish. Not the worst.

Huge thanks Brian and Renato at the Curry Bowl, again, drunk with some lovely kothu! Golden body, tiny white head. Sweetish aroma. Sweetish malty taste, with that classic "tropical lager" touch I cannot place, ending dry and lightly herbal. Clean and just slightly sweetish again in the finish. Typical lager of its ilk, only better executed than most.
