Deep within the recesses of the alcoves & antechambers of Oakshire Brewing lies another realm. It is a place where carefully fermented beers are laid to rest in oaken sarcophagi. They slumber for eons only to emerge as wholly transformed entities, fuels for the malformed creatures that populate the blasted & eldritch wastes of…

Hellshire…

Hellshire VI is a strong imperial stout aged 9 months in first use rye and bourbon barrels. Rich, dark, chocolate tones marry with vanilla & coconut, punctuated with warm spicy notes. We’ve aged it for instant enjoyment, but storing dry and cool for a spell will only enhance Hellshire’s flavors.

750mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of bourbon barrels upfront, followed by medium roast and vanilla. Flavour is very heavy and boozy, with heaps of bourbon, alcohol, light vanilla and some cocoa. Boozy, rich and well-balanced. Good stuff.

Bottle - Dark chocolate syrup and bourbon notes. Jet brown with a small brown head. Dark roasty chocolate, boozy bourbon and almost balanced. Decent for what it is.

Dark brown. No head. Aroma is a big rough - lots of bourbon, bit boozy, and some messy fig and chocolate malts. Sweet up front with some brown sugar notes, but then i t gets hot, and with a fairly rough barrel signature. Then it gets to a mix of hot and sweet in the finish, the vanillins showing through.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a medium brown head. A huge bourbon nose, dark fruit, ash. The flavor is big sugary bourbon, vanilla, sweet licorice, chocolate, dark fruit, cake. Very good. The bourbon is just huge. Hot, beastly. Awesome. This is one of the hottest beers I’ve had in a long time, needs a few years.
