Sampled on draft at Vintage Estate this beer poured a black color with a medium sized creamy dark tan head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was cocoa, anise and floral hops. The flavor was bitter with cocoa, anise, floral hops, roasty malts and a touch of red meat. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Decent.

Draft - Dark roast and dark sugar sweetness. Jet brown with a nice brown head. Dark roast and lots of toffee and molasses sweetness. A bit too sweet for me.

On tap at the brewpub. Coal black with light brown head. Aroma is cocoa nibs, thick body, medium carbonation, and good thin small-bubble lacing. Taste is dark chocolate, some roast, some coffee, and really dry finish. My first imperial foreign stout?
