Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a fairly dark brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a decent pace. Sly messy lace.
The aroma carried some caramel/toffee malts over some nuts, somewhat roasty. Light tones of vanilla and wood trace the edges. Sly dark chocolate and a little bit of earthiness round out the bits. Light cinnamon.
The flavor moderately leans sweet and develops a slight roastiness coming through dryly. Wonderful aftertaste of cinnamon, earthiness and dark chocolate. Dry sweet and earthy finish.
The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it as the spice does end up touching a little bit of noticeable harshness, still, it’s acceptable to me. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, that’s a really good brown ale that I would love to have again.
