The Citra Saison is Brew By Numbers' modern interpretation of a Belgian farmhouse classic. The hops balance the yeast character while a light spicing adds complexity.

Bottle from bottle-shop.eu. Hazy golden colour, white foam. Too much carbonation. Aroma of lemon and orange, straw. Harsh bitterness. Not very well balanced. Maybe too old? (bottle was one year old).

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours very hazy vibrant yellow with a frothy and slightly fizzy white head that leaves some sticky spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity and slightly phenolic with crackers, grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit, star fruit, freshly harvested hay, oily pine cones, coriander, white pepper corns and lemon zest. Taste is bitter, slightly fruity and slightly phenolic with crackers, grapefruit, unripe pineapple, passion fruit, straw, dried pine needles, dry soil, minerals, pear skins, white pepper corns and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is crisp, dry, slightly astringent and light bodied. Finish is bitter, fruity and slightly phenolic with crackers, grapefruit, overripe tropical fruits, hay, dry soil, white pepper corns and lemon zest. Tasty way underrated saison.

Pours a nice golden colour with a white head. Fresh zesty citrus notes in both aroma and taste together with some sweetness. Refreshing.

Bottle. It’s a hazy, golden colored beer topped by a dense, finger-thick white head leaving some lacings. Lots of lovely citrusy, catpee-ish aromas, with some pale malts in the back. Pretty nice indeed, sure moreish. And that goes for the flavor too. Pine cones, resins, catpee, canned apricots and some catpee. Not much malts. Lasting bitter finish. Pretty tasteful and nice this one. Could sure have more of it. 140717
