The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base.
Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.
Hop: Chinook, Kent Golding
Malt: Pale, Crystal, Black, Chocolate
Others: Roasted Barley, Coffee beans

Bottle. Dark brown color with medium beige head. Coffee, ash, licorice, alcohol. Taste, roasted malt, coffee, wood, ash, hops. Enjoyable beer.

Re-rate: Bottle from Hasegawa. Big dark cacao notes on the nose with lots of coffee and a slight hint of vanilla. Taste is cacao and coffee with a bitter roasted coffee edge. Dark bitter chocolate and french roasted coffee finish. Valentine’s label version 330ml bottle from Liquors Hasegawa in Tokyo. Poured into a English tulip pint. Black with a caramel hue and huge brown sugar colored head that dissipates fairly quickly. Cacao and malt aroma is big and in-your-face. Hints of coffee and milk chocolate present as well. Taste is big, bold and chocolatey with nice dark roasted coffee swirled in on the palate. Reminds me of a cafe mocha. As it comes to room temperature the flavors persist and a little dark fruit sneaks out as well: currant, fig and plum. Bottle at home, 27th December 14. Dark pour, large head. Aroma dark roasted coffee beans, a little chocolate. Taste is smooth, high quality coffee , and a dusting of cocoa. Lovely stout

12-16 oz on draft at True Brew Mito Station, plastic cup with the free beer ticket from the Kiuchi tour. Finished it off on the train ride to Ueno Station. Black with tan head. Aromas of roast, coffee, dark chocolate. Tastes of coffee/espresso, bitter roast, dark chocolate, caramel. Medium-full body with a dry finish.

330ml bottle. Pours very fizzy, thin head, dark black. Aroma is bitter, black chocolate. Taste is strong coffe with dark chocolate coming through later. Very nice as a one off, couldn?t drink more than a couple in one sitting

Bottle at DaDa Sheffield - Jet black body, healthy beige head. Nose is a heavy heady coffee, lots of toasted nuts and malts. The taste has loads of black coffee in it, loads of bitter beans too. Exquisite.

Clear dark brown to black beer, creamy beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of coffee, roasted, caramel, sweet, some vanilla, charcoal. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of coffee, bitter, roasted, fruity touch, some forest fruit candy, dried fruits. Aftertaste: coffee, cocoa powder, banana touch, caramel, bit sweet, dried fruits.
