Raison D'Extra's little brother Raison D'Etre was brewed to be the ultimate beer partner for steak. Plump raisins and beet sugars give the beer a similar DNA and color to red wine.
D'Extra takes this concept to the next level. What 120 Minute IPA is to 60 Minute IPA, D'Extra is the D'Etre. We're pushing the limits of what a Belgian yeast can do (and we've discovered that's somewhere in the ballpark of 15% to 18% ABV!)
D'Extra is extremely complex and a great candidate for aging. Sip on one with a loved one now, and stash a few in your beer cellar! As Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione says, "This puppy's only getting better with age."

A reddy mahogany body with obvious effervescence and a quickly disappearing light tan head. The nose is a work of art - dark berries, congac, raisins, dough and red wine. The taste leads with a significant thick raisin presence, rich toffee, and dates. There is a slight citrus hop bitterness, ripe juicy dark berries, cognac and a nice injection of balancing red-wine acidity. there is a touch of cocao and yeast in the finish. A slick mouth feel and a dense slightly sticky body help maintain the taste. So well integrated, complex and balanced.

As good as you’d expect. Poured dark and lovely with a smalish head. Smell of chocolate covered raisins and taste is similar. Maybe too alcoholy but this is really very well done.

pours a very dark mahogany, very small tan head. Aroma is VERY malty, with some hints of brown sugar, and raisins with lots of alcohol. Flavour is again, super malty, with a hint of raisin. The alcohol is very present, its warms all the way down, a definite winte sipper. NOt a bad beer, but not great either, but no question, and extreme beer.

(Thanks, Jim! ozzy70) Bottle. A- Malty, booze, raisins, brown sugar. A- Dark mahogany color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Raisins, malt, booze, sweet, sugary. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, boozy finish. O- Vintage 2019. 3 years of age almost to the day. Wanted to keep cellaring but it felt like it was time to drink. Loads upon loads of raisins and malt. Definitely boozy but still doesn't feel 19%. A great beer in it's own right but a bit too much for me to give it a 5 star review.

Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk. Pours clear dark amber with no real head. Aromas of raisins, toffee, honeycomb, spice. Taste is boozy, dried fruit, prunes, something oaky. Fruitcake. Like a sherry really. Lovely.

Draught @ Harlem Hops (7/3/19). Clear dark brown with copper tint, foamy tan head, dried fruit-vanilla aroma, low carbonation, initially sweet, caramel-dried fruits-vanilla taste, strong alcohol undertones, thin body, long sticky sweet finish with alcohol aftertaste. Very boozy.
