Dark ruby ale with subtle coffee and chocolate flavours and a rich, hoppy aroma. Roasted berry and caramel characters sink deep into a fantastic bitter finish.

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 20.01.15. Dark ruby. Foamy and persistent off-white head and lacing. Aroma of dried fruits, dark berries and vanilla. Similar taste, balanced with bitterness. Dry.

Flaske delt med Ovesen: mørk rubin med beige storboblet gardin/filmskum. God aroma av ristet brød og mørke bær. God, mørk bitterhet som er litt brent i kanten. En tørr&smaksrik stout.

Interessant og kompleks. Kanskje litt høyt karbonert, men ellers bra.

Bottle from Bernie’s off license, Solihull. Poured a hazy reddish brown with a bubbly off white head. The aroma is roasty malt, light fruit. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smoky malt liqoiurice bitter, light pepper spice palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

0.5l bottle. This is a really deep dark bronze colored one. Almost black-bronze in color and it has a nice big bubbly and super-lacing light beige head. On the nose it's at first slightly cardboardy. There's lots of cardboard indeed but also some red sticky dark fruits with dark plum sugar, vanilla, tones of chocolate and a little malt sweetness. Grows and ends up smelling quite nice after a while in the glass. Tastes quite nice also I have to say. It's dark malty, lots of nice licorice tones all the way here. Mild chocolate and chocolate wrapper. Creamy feeling in the mouth and it's the same with the carbonation. Yeah, I liked this one. Could easily drink this again. 19.07.2014

500ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Crocheted lacing down the glassware from a frothy, long-lived, fawn-cooured head. Clear mahogany coloured body. Good looking, indeed. Roasted malty taste, mid-sweet hints of grainy chocolate. Fine blended taste of chocolate and coffee, nicely roasted. Herbal and leafy bittering hops to the ending. Medium bodied. Well made, true to its name (Tromsø 15.11.2014).

First rating: Big beige lasting head. Clear dark brown body with light carbonation. Earthy strawy fruity aroma with grainy mineraly notes. Dryish spicy earthy fruity taste with caramelly roasty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, mealy, slightly flat mouthfeel. Dryish spicy perfumy roasty aftertaste with dried fruit notes. Nice, drinkable, harmonic. Highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, from wine monopoly, Strømmen.) Score: 6,4,6,3,13

Second rating: Huge beige head. Clear dark brown body with light carbonation. Spicy fruity rye aroma with perfumy nutty notes. Dry-sweet spicy fruity perfumy roasty taste with earthy wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Sharpish mealy mouthfeel. Sweetish roasty earthy coffeeish aftertaste with chocolatey wooden notes. Lovely! Full of rich flavours. The aroma is kind of so-so, but in the mouth it opens up. (0.5l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.) Score: 6,4,7,3,14=3.4

Bottle at home. Pours a clear, dark reddish brown colour with a medium, beige, creamy head. Aroma of wood, nuts, fudge, roasted malt and some dried fruit. The flavour is light but with more roastedness and burned wood, and some coffee. Has a slick mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. A balanced and well roasted ale, but both aroma and flavour is quite careful. Id expect more.
