Yet another beer I’m surprised I haven’t rated before. Cask at Smithfield Derby – but have drunk it elsewhere several times. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with minimal off-white head. There’s malts in the aroma plus a hint of humbug sweets. Pretty much the same in the mouth with the addition of liquorice and traces of treacle, berries and coffee. Finish has some vague fruitiness. Not at all bad.

Cask pint at the Halfway House. Black pour with a light beige creamy head. Light roasty aroma. Taste is roasty, burnt toast, and chocolate. Creamy and smooth, full feel.
