2014 version. Aroma of dark malt, caramel, candy sugar, raisins, some hoppy notes. Flavour is sweet with a moderate bitter finish. A bit too much of candy sugar sweetness, but the bitterness does seem to balance things out... somewhat.

Hazy brown, beige froth. Aroma has dried fruit, brown sugar and caramel. Sweet flavour, caramel, brown sugar, ripe fruit and alcohol. Finishes with hoppy bitterness and a little alc warmth. Gets more and more alcoholic actually and seems somewhat unrefined.

Brown and chunky. Tiny bit of unstable foam. Mostly just sweet, a bit too much even. Something marshmellowy, but doesn't really add. Pity.

At Spuyt in Amsterdam but I forgot to take notes so will have to re-rate later. From what I remember, this was a deep brownish bronze beer with medium sized, pale greyish beige head and sweet, malty aroma and taste of caramel, toffee, pear, dates, raisins and some banana; somewhat thin and even lightly metallic body for the style, finishing sweet with warming alcohol, spicy notes and light herbal hop bitterness. More than decent, but coming from Emelisse, I guess I expected a bit more still.
