Our Grand Prestige, brewed with four different malts, is also described as barley wine. In the ripe, full taste, bitter and sweet are remarkably well-distinguishable.
The taste of Hertog Jan Grand Prestige is appreciated by connoisseurs and enthusiasts far beyond our borders, as proven by, among other things, the golden awards at various renowned beer competitions.
As Grand Prestige is stored for longer, that wonderful taste develops even further. After a few years, the taste is reminiscent of a beautiful old port wine.

Bottle, historic scored rating, my wife got me a selection pack of Hertog Jan beers when she went to Netherlands. This was by far the best in the pack.

Pours dark brown with a very light red hue and a short, quickly diminishing tan head. The aroma contains malts, toffee, caramel, dried fruits, licorice and spices. It tastes medium to light bitter and medium sweet. Long, spicy and fruity finish - alcoholic as well. Full body, oily texture and decent carbonation. Definitely complex in aroma and taste.

Gut!

0.33l bottle. Dark ruby body, thin light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, banana, toast and caramel. Taste of chocolate, cherries, banana, cocoa and a hint of booze. Quite similar to a weizenbock with a bit more chocolate. Very nice beer.

Bottle and draught. Color: Dark reddish brown. Light head. Taste: Medium sweet roasted malts, lightly hopbitter. Notes of raisins. Hints of caramel and herbs. Quite intense. Finish tends to the sweet side. The high alcohol percentage is well hidden. Easy drinkable.

Old rating. Very deep and rich beer. Dark brown sugars, dried fruits. Moderate bitterness, intense smooth and thick, not too sweetish. Long intense fruity caramelly burned aftertaste, rich, not too sweetish, round and great!

0.3 l bottle, best before 8/2016, probably about two years old. Clear, very dark ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, a bit fruity aroma of caramel, treacle, raisins, prunes and even a slight hint of red wine. Quite sweet, very malty, moderately fruity taste of caramel, treacle, raisins, prunes, blackcurrant and a touch of red wine, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, quite warming, but only minimally alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, almost oily mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very satisfying, harmonic and well-drinkable, overall a really nice sipper!

Caoba, escasa espuma ocre. Alcohol, disimulado, pasas, biZcocho. Buen cuerpo. Bien de todo. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flesje (30 cl ) thuis gedronken.
