Our Grand Prestige, brewed with four different malts, is also described as barley wine. In the ripe, full taste, bitter and sweet are remarkably well-distinguishable.
The taste of Hertog Jan Grand Prestige is appreciated by connoisseurs and enthusiasts far beyond our borders, as proven by, among other things, the golden awards at various renowned beer competitions.
As Grand Prestige is stored for longer, that wonderful taste develops even further. After a few years, the taste is reminiscent of a beautiful old port wine.

March 2015: Shared 300 ml bottle at local tasting, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 10%. Very dark brown colour, large beige head. Strong malty aroma, notes of molasses and brown kandij sugar, some alcohol, Lovely and well balanced flavour, malty but not too sweet, brown kandij sugar and oak, notes of dark dried fruits, some mild spicy notes.

Bottle 0,75ltr: Dark brown with some fruity, raisin, chocolate and some spices hints in the taste. One of the better high alchohol beers.

2024 vintage in a classy ceramic bottle. Thanks to my aunt. It pours clear darkest brown with a handsome beige head. The aroma is rich and fruity, raisin, sultana, prune, plum, Eccles cake, toasty sugars, molasses, touch of Bakewell pudding, cherry cola, vanilla and Dr Pepper. The taste is drying, bitter, toasty, charred oak, bitter, rather toothy, chewy, earthy, treacle, molasses, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fig, toasted fruit, fragrant, herbal, spicy, warming booze, bitter toffee, touch of tannin and leathery with a warming and chewy finale. Fulsome body, soft, fluffy carbonation. Rich maltage action. Robust. I quite like it.

Bottle from hopt/amazon, batch 2021 bb 06/23. Deep magodany color thick creamy offwhite head, malty flavor. Taste of thick bready malts, biscuit, caramel, raisins, some candy fruit, apples. Taste smooth, sweetish, mildly winey, subtle tartness and decent bitterness. Noticeable alcohol obviously for a solvent note but not too forward. Dense body, smooth texture, soft carbonation. Long malty and Fruity finish.

En schnifter, color caoba oscuro, espuma de bonito color beige y conservación media. Agradable aroma a ciruelas pasas, pan de higo, bizcocho de plátano, pudding y especias. En boca es dulzona y sabrosa, llena de notas de frutas secas, repostería, canela... muy equilibrada, textura ligerísimamente oleosa, final ligeramente amargo y especiado, alcohol muy bien integrado. En definitiva una cerveza tan "fisna" como disfrutable, muy rica.
