This bottle was from 2014, well past its best by date. Very good interesting beer. Poured with a small short lived head and a very dark brown color. Aroma is that of dark malt and lots of cocoa. Flavor is like aroma; on the sweet side; very drinkable. Good body and soft carbonation.

330ml bottle via Beer52: BB 23rd August 2023. Poured into my lovely 'Gordons' thistle shaped glass at home on 19th February 2023. Is there a better glass in the world suited to dark beers? Anyway this poured black with a decent tanned crown and looked great. Roasted maltiness leaps out from the beer filling your nose and mouth with a semi-sweet, semi-burnt richness right from the first sip and sniff. Bloody hell, the heads gone as I wrote about the taste and aroma, what a pity, it doesn't look so good now. It's fairly highly carbonated, so no reason the head should disappear so swiftly, hope it wasn't the cheese I was nibbling while tasting the brew. Still enjoying it though!

Bottle from Beer 52 – drank at home. Pours almost black with a small cream head. The nose is understated with just some hints of roasted malts and milky coffee. In the mouth there is a basic bitter-sweet sensation to which other flavours keep coming and going. Humbugs, liquorice, dark chocolate and coffee grounds, plus hints of cola and black wine gums. Finish is a little sweeter than the mouthfeel. Very nice – but one to be sipped slowly.

330ml bottle - Pours a dark brown almost black colour with an average sized, mostly lasting, foamy tan head. Aroma is dark malts, cocoa powder and coffee. A light dry and chocolatey taste, dark malts, cocoa powder and cold coffee flavours with a moderate semi dry bitter chocolate finish.

Frothy light brown head on a near black body. Burnt, malt & roasted aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a sharper dry clothing back. Roasted, nutty, burnt, liquorice & citrus tastes with a long bitter finish. Excellent Porter.

Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a shaker. Opaque deep amberbrown colour, good creamy tan head, collapsing unevenly after a short while, thick lacing. Aroma toasted malt, cocoa powder, some liquorice, light dark fruits, hint tobacco. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, chocolate, liquorice, figs, raisins, vinous notes. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, mild fruity sweetbitter aftertaste, light vinous notes, very nice.
