Specially brewed for the Ratebeer European Summer Gathering 2013 in The Netherlands. Organisation by Joes, Benzai, Martinus and Dutchdrebus. IPA / Orange Pale Ale brewed with El Dorado and Cascade.

Thanks to bierkoning for that bottle. Looks really good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Fine hoppy aroma. Starts strong hoppy and interesting fruity like orange and grapefruit. Mild sourish notes. Finish drier, less fruity, more bitter. Great one!

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Dark amber/copper color, somewhat hazy. Huge off white head with big bubbles with a small layer retention. Aroma’s: soft resin/pine, soft citrus, with some bready malt sweetness for balance, and a bit dark fruit retronasal. Flavor is resinous bitter, again with some malty sweetness to balance it out. Medium bodied. Firm bitter finish. Good stuff!

Slightly hazy caramel colour, off-white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, caramel, pineapple, hops, orange peel, quite fruity. Somewhat sweet malty flavour, bitter hops. Lingering bitter finish, tropical fruits.
A quite balanced, nice IPA. And absolutely brilliant that Jurgen created this beer for our RBESG 2013. Thanks!! (From 33cL bottle, during it’s premiere, RBESG 2013 @ the Rooie Dop brew dungeon)

Purchased @ De Molen. As the label says: β€œBrewed for Ratebeer European Summer Gathering 2013”. Very cool initiative, thx! to everyone who organized RBESG & arranged this beer getting made and the brewers. Very fresh, 3 days past release. Murky brownish, light touch of fox amber, off-white head. Nose is very hoppy, earthly, lots of earthly fruits & some tropical ones as well, dried orange peel, grapefruit & touch caramel. Taste is bitter earth, dried mandarin & orange peel, harsh earthly caramel, fruity, very bitter pine needles, nicely harsh. The bitterness lingers. Full malty body. Very straightforward & simple. Very nice but could use something to really make it pop, great brew but with something this could have been something really special it just feels. First batch is limited to 299 bottles. I need more very fresh IPA’s.

Bottle at Rooie Dop, Utrecht at the RBESG 2013 opening night. Poured a slightly cloudy chestnut brown with a bubbly white head. The aroma is rich slightly alcoholic and a little fruity. The flavour is medium bitter with a little rich citrus fruit and some alcohol liqourice bitterness notes on the palate. A lovely heart warming beer, ideal for the summer and in front of a roaring fire too.

Bottled @ Rooie Dop. Slight hazy amber color, short head. Aroma of soft hop, bit tropical fruit. Quite harsh on the bitterness and a bit thin in flavor. Should try and rerate this one as I drank it after a Ot the Explorer and it might not be doing the beer right. Will rerate. 3.0 Rerate: Slightly hazy amber to copper color, medium off-white head. Aroma has some chocolate and caramel in it from the malts. Soft hop, bit piney, tropical fruit, could have been a bit more. Cascade and El Dorado makes sense. Bitterness still feels too harsh and I would like to see some more sweetness from the malt to back it up. Quite dry in the finish. Bitterness lingers on. Guess there was nothing wrong with my tastebuds the first time, but I do up the score a bit.

33cl Bottle at Rooie Dop Brewdungeon, RBESG ’13. Hazy orange/amber colour, off-white head. Aroma is quite English imo, fruity, citrus, hint of caramel, hoppy. Flavour is dry, fruity, lychee, English ale, firm bitter light floral finish. Light to medium-bodied. Thanks Berghoeve for making this!
