Draught from Swift. Poured orangey brown. Smallish head. Hoppy, citrus. Good enough.

My first 12 oz can from Clown Shoes. Sad, I miss the bombers. The label says India Pale Ale, at least mine does. Unequivocally. No matter to me. I am missing the best by date by a lot, say 10 months or so, hopefully it does not effect the tasting. Into the snifter it goes, I will say it it does look like a red ale. Dark amber-brown in appearance with a steadfast head of parchment tan foam. The scent is heavy with hops along with resin. The taste is out there, not Hop Stoopid strong, but out there nonetheless. Pine in full array, white bread, malt, cereal, bitter and the barest bit of sweetness. Dry in sensation, interesting. Good to have the drink.

Can (Best by 1/31/21) pour from Lazy Dog Beer Shoppe. Deeply hazy red-dark amber with light, lazy sparkle, 3-finger(!) width off-white head with excellent retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is spicy hops and caramel/bready malts. Taste is bready/caramel malt dominant with mildly bittering hops. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thick, frothy texture, average-to-lively carbonation and crisp, dry, mostly bitter finish. Overall, nice heft to it and good strength to aroma and flavor. A bit over carbonated.

Can stamped Best by 31 January 21. The aromas are old hops, res in, spice and a touch floral. Flavors are like nose, very lightly sweet up front with strongly increasing bitterness. A little molasses in there too. Decent body, carbonation and bitter finish.

Can from the 12 Beers of Christmas Pack - Day 08. Poured a deep dark, clear amber color with a medium sized, off-white head. Aroma was light toasted malts. Pine, light citrus. Flavor was nice crisp character, kind of feels like a throwback.

Super dark brown and bronze coloured body, perfectly clear, with a very nice ruby glow near the bottom with a nice one to two centimetre tall tan head that's quite frothy. Aroma of rich toffee, caramelised sugars, rich nutty and earthy malts with some alcohol, metallic and floral scents as well. Medium-bodied; Very strong nutty, earthy and even biscuity malts show at first, with a deep, robust hoppy profile as well, with pine, grapefruit and especially earthy notes near the end, all quite strong. Aftertaste is rich from all the malts with a lot of sugars still noticeable, but on the caramelised and toffee side of things, with a nice dry bite and slightly medicinal note, but still complex, bitter and robust. Overall, a nice and very earthy, nutty and toasty IPA that does show good hops, some sweetness that adds a lot of bitterness from hops and especially the toasted malts. Nice-ish to sample, but I prefer lighter IPAs without the toasted grains. Still nice to try of course, but pretty hard to recommend to others, when so many better beers exist. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Manassas, Virginia on 27-November-2020 for US$5,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 16-December-2020.

Draught back in 2010 when they were just starting, at The Tap (Haverhill) beer fest.Pours a mahogany-to-amber, clear with a beige head atop showing low retention.Caramel and light roast combine with mild hop bitterness as vanilla and dark chocolate linger on the end. No alcohol or flaw. In the mouth it's sweet up front but does indeed dry out, though plentiful chocolate, coffee and vanilla notes are left along the way. Sticky texture with ample malt and moderate carbonation. Moderate hop bitterness aids in drying it out with caramel, dark chocolate and toffee lingering. While it's just plain ol' cascade-like C hop character, it's not resinous. No alcohol or flaw. Clown Shoes started out so promisingly, then devolved in to Mega Sugar Bomb Imperial Stouts.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, hop, caramel, alcohol. Flavour is roasted malt, hop, caramel, alcohol, pine. Nice beer.

The appearance has a hazy amber body that leaves a one finger white foamy head and lasts for a minute. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen. Some spotty lacing coats the sides of the glass.
The smell has some citrus, pine and hops up front combined very nicely.
The taste brings back the hops over top of the citrus and pine.
On the palate, it sits about a light to medium with nothing harsh on the tongue, sessionable.
Overall, this is a great beer that I would no doubt have again. Thought it seems close to an IPA (smell and taste), it still is something worth seeking out.
