Rerate, 2014: tap @ Oudaen, medium sample, served in a hefeweizenglass. Clear yellow to golden color, short frothy white head. Aroma of grainy malts, grassy and herbal hop, slight spicy. Quite nice and fresh noble hops actually. Not as much banana or clove present, as most is filtered out. Soft to medium bitter taste. Their hefeweizen isnt the most banana and clove forward weizen, so therefore there is not much left of this character. It tastes almost like a keller. But a very nice one actually. Score going up massively. Original rating, 2001: This is the filtered version of ouwe daen, and they shouldnt have. Cos the nice appearance is gone, a clear pale-yellowish color is all what’s left. The nice citric freshness is not present anymore as it was in ouwe daen. This beer is more comparable to Grolsch Zomergoud, as it is a filtered wheat, and wheat aren’t supposed to be filtered. 2.8
