Bourbon Barrel-Aged Stout
One of the most sought-after stouts in Bell’s history, Black Note Stout blends the complex aromatics of Expedition Stout with the velvety smooth texture of Double Cream Stout, each aged in freshly retired oak bourbon barrels for months. Aimed squarely at the stout and bourbon aficionados, Black Note makes a grand statement about the art of the dark.
The resulting harmony of flavors captures the finest features of all three components: malty notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and dried fruits, all buoyed by the warmth and fragrance of the bourbon barrel.

341ml bottle (thx, Eric D.!). Bottled on 2016-11-03. ABV is 11.2%. Pours an almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma is fruity, chocolate, some barrel and bourbon notes, slight booziness and sweetness. Taste is very sweet, oily, fruity, with barrel and bourbon notes. Long chocolate, bourbon and some barrel aftertaste. Amazing sipper.

35cl bottle, 2016 vintage. Pitch black pour with a tall tan head. Notes of bourbon, milk chocolate, roasted coffee as well as brewed coffee, vanilla, a bit of toasted coconut, toffee, with espresso-like coffee in the post-taste. Full bodied, soft texture. A great imperial stout, the bourbon, roast and sweetness are perfectly balanced. Just a bit alcoholic in the end, probably due to its freshness (bottled Nov 2016). --- Beer merged from original tick of Black Note Stout on 31 Jan 2017 at 19:04 - Score: 9. Original review text: Silky-smooth bourbon, coffee and caramel goodness.

Draft. A brown beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and alcohol, leading to a dry roasted finish.

12 oz bottle poured, gifted by Pruf. Huge thanks! Great way to start the new year. Black pour with a lasting cola fizz head. Chocolate malt aroma, slight dough, and hints of bourbon aroma. Flavor is dark fruit, bold, dark chocolate, and a smooth and delicious bourbon. A fantastic stout here. I wish I had Bells at my local. So good.
