A straw-coloured bitter which initially seems sweet, but a complex dry, hoppy taste soon predominates.

Probably the best example of the traditional Black Country style of bitter. No better partner to a lunchtime snack!

Appearance- hazy golden, lots of bubbles rising, a thick white head which lasts well. Looks the part. Aroma- caramel malt, soft fruity hops, lemon and orange hints, honey, cereal. Taste- orange and piney hop hints, biscuity sweet malty base, juicy mouthfeel, cereal, crisp hops, short finish. Everything you’d want from a bitter.

As trad bitters go, this is right up there with the best of them. #beerbods

Bottle from Tanners, Shrewsbury. Appearance - consumed it from the bottle. Nose - toffee, nuts, earth. Taste - more toffee and nuts Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a finish that could be fresher. Overall - solid but not sure I’d revisit.

500 ml bottle from my European Local Swap sender minutemat. Thanks Mat!
Clear, pale golden body, with a big, lacing, frothy, off-white head.
Aroma of hay, grass, grains, some flowers, slight citrus.
Taste is quite light, with about the same aromas and some more fruity, zesty hops and bitter herbs.
Light, slick mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes bitter, quite dry, with grass, herbs, zesty hops.

Good. Clean, crisp and very easy, with a nice hay aroma. Overall not a beer I would often drink, but one of the better Bitters I’ve had.

Clear deep orange golden color with a fine off white head. Toffee, mild fruity and flowery. Medium body. Fine balance between sweetness and bitterness. Average carbonation. Bready, fruity, mild citric and a bit flowery flavor. Fresh and tasty English bitter.
