Ever so slightly hazy light amber and bronze coloured body with a lighter golden tint when held up to a light, but a smooth and relatively small single to perhaps two centimetre tall head. Aroma of the funky spice and graininess with a dose of salt, brine and astringency, but the caraway seed is very distinct throughout. Light-bodied; Sharp pungent grainy and spicey flavour at first that has a lot of flavours toward rye, caraway seed and some other funky notes that aren't typical in beer - and it shows, but the finish is a touch smoother with some plain biscuity malts, a bit of sweetness and a light citrus finish. Aftertaste shows the spices more than anything with a distinct grainy and astringent finish with the caraway seed, rye, salt and pepper notes that show through just about everything. Overall, a funky beer, and it shows. Not necessarily horrible - just interesting, especially when you consider their beers generally hit their mark in terms of what the label states. Not really my cup of tea, but I can't fault them for trying. This would be great alongside a sandwich from Katz's - too bad I'm not in New York. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-September-2018 for US$2,25 sampled on 07-March-2019 at home in Washington.

12 ounce bottle. Dark gold color. Small white head. Interesting nose. Hints of rye grain, mustard seed, caraway seed and celery. Light body. Yeah, it has the nuances of mustard, black pepper rye bread and horseradish. I love a good Pastrami sandwich (Harold's in Edison, NJ). This is a great homage to that delicious treat. I need a pickle!

Barcade, philadelphia: pours light copper with small white head. Aroma is like pickles straight up. Taste is pickle beer. This is not particularly good.
