The name "Devil’s Heart of Gold" comes from what they call the "Devil’s Cut". When a bourbon ages in a barrel, a portion of the bourbon evaporates - this is called the "Angel’s share". Another portion of the bourbon gets absorbed into the new oak barrel - this is called the "Devil’s cut". Therefore, the Heart of Gold beer aging in the barrel starts to absorb back some of the Devil’s Cut and hence the name "Devil’s Heart of Gold".

Dark Mahogany body with a low off-white head. The nose features roasted malt, grapes, honey, white wine and booze. Lots to taste here - apricots, dates, molasses, berries, sour mash and some hops for balance. There is a slight boozy burn over time. This is a pretty way out mix that really works for me.

Waxed capped 750 from Tavour. Pours clear brown with a slight tan head. Aroma of bourbon and wheat. Full bodied. Not dry, close to sticky. Heat, bourbon, wheat and chocolate. Dried fruit notes. Bitter from heat and something. There is wood astringency. Quite the sipper.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Medium dark brown with minimal white head. Lots of dark dried fruits, caramel, touch of rye whiskey. Very nice balance. Quality (wish it was half the price).

750ml (thx, Brent L.!) @ Ryan's shared with Farees. Appearance: very dark copper with a weak beige head. Aroma: lots of barrel with heavy toffee, caramel, dark fruits. Taste: very thick, but not cloying, barrel notes, lots of toffee. Overall: nice one.
