Barista is a rich roasty coffee stout. A roasty yet creamy mouthfeel caries the subtle taste of Espresso coffee which we add in ground Arabica form at the end of the boil. This beer has the roast bitterness you’d expect from coffee but it also has a subtle sweetness in the finish, a real pick-me-up of a beer!

Cask at Old Fountain, Old St, London. Very black with a thin beige head made of little bubbles. Aroma is coffee and cream, with roasted maltiness. Taste is very roasty and smoky, with a pleasant coffee bitterness. Bit thin in the mouth, but quite nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Barista on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 7. Tap at the Euston tap. Aroma is soft ashy roast, mineral, green coffee bean. Opaque dark brown pour with a lasting cream head. Flavour is composed of milk choc, earthy coffee bean, slight veg pepper. Soft balanced roast in the finish is slightly drying. Palate is medium bodied slightly milky on the tongue and low carbonation. Beer hangs together very well

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Black with a smooth off-white head. It has a light smoked character with a fine nose in this respect with some coffee evident, and edging towards a more burnt taste. Medium bodied.

Euston Tap. Cask. Not sure how I have missed this one! Opaque black - brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and slightly dry with mild fine carbonation. Smooth and mild dark malts. Powdery dark chocolate. Earthy coffee. Smooth dry finish. Earthy coffee aftertaste. Not bad, bit dry.

Bottle from Vino Wines. Black body with a thick tan head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of espresso, ash and burnt toast. Bitter, burnt flavour with a dry finish (DruncanVeasey’s ’bunsened pencil’ comment is spot on). Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. This Stout won’t appeal to everyone, but I really like its burnt bitterness. It’s just a pity the mouthfeel is so light. I think this would be excellent in cask.

Cask @ London Drinker Beer Festival 2014, Kings Cross. Wow definitely not a beer for me. Smells like coffee dregs and tastes like a cold cup of coffee that’s been left on the windowsill outside for a couple of nights. Summer Wine have been pretty faultless up til now, and the Mokko milk stout was excellent but i’m sorry, this was a definite sink pour.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines and shared with Kermis on the NS HiSpeed tasting to Antwerp. Poured a clear dark brown with a lively frothy tan head and some broken lace. The aroma is dry roasted malt, coffee and a little yeast. The flavour is medium bitter with a light refreshing grass hop, smoke, coffee palate. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation. A superb stout. One of the best from the UK.
