Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark mahogany color with persistent compact head. Light aroma of roasted malt, dust, ashes. The body is not too thin; caramel flavor, with relatively low bitterness and lack of character.
Clean but boring.

Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, butter, caramel, and straw, leading to a dry finsih.

Draught in Kimberley, BC. Clear mahogany colour, small head. Mildly roasty with some hazelnuts and coffee. Dryish with clean mouthfeel, light chocolate and mild bitterness. A well made brown akle with good drinkability.

A light clear brown ale with a medium light moka head. Light roasted malt and carmale aroma, a bit peaty. In mouth, a pleasant surprise, with a restrained roasted caramel malt, light nuttyness, and light chocolate bitterness in final. I agree there is some lactic overtones, but the finale is all nuts, as a good classic brown ale. Can from Capflu, Dec. 2006.

Golden brown, toasty nutty aroma. Taste is sweeter, dash of nuttiness and brown sugar, probably a little thinner than I’d like.
