Trappist ale brewed with spices. We brewed a beer that we describe as 'slightly unruly'--our Trappist 8 is a beer you must take time to understand. Chestnut-colored and bottle-conditioned, with aroma of herbs and spices; initially floral and slightly sweet; character develops from light caramel to a lovely, dry, hoppy bitterness as the flavor opens. Brewed within the walls of Zundert Trappist Monastery by monks.

Last bottle in Casper. 02-2026 on the label.

Pours a slightly hazy deep amber with a huge head of foam, excellent retention and lacing.

Smell spicy, fruity, candi sugar, some caramel malt, earthy.

Taste is malty, some spice and fruit, earthy, more malt with some sweetness, bitter almost all in the finish for me. Unusual.

Great mouthfeel.

Sad that the brewery is closing.

It is symply a delicious trappist beer, if you drink at 10-12 degrees. The taste is with malt, main presence of honey, flowers and hop. 29.01.2017, drinking it at home Lausanne, Prélaz.

Taking this bottle from Amstein, St-Légier and opening it yesterday, best before 05/22, a long time in my cellar. This one was perfect at night, at the balcony, before to sleep, better at the final, smooth, sweet, spicy, sugar, plum, grapes, subtle. 31.08.2022
