My goodness this was a pure pleasure to drink. So balanced and powerful.
Pitch black with a creamy beige head. Nice mellow aroma. Full body and a smooth carbonation level. Creamy texture. Lovely lasting tail. Chocolate, fruity, vanilla and espresso in the flavor. Yummi.

Bottle, 330 ml, courtesy of jjsint. Shared with Max and JFK10000. Pours black, medium light brownish head. Roasted malty, coffee, sweet, chocolate, licorice, some dried fruit, light bitterness in finish. Soft texture. Easy drinkable. Medium to full bodied.

Bottle, Lot 932, BBE 8/2017, many thanks to cgarvieuk for this one! Pitch black color with a rather large-bubbled beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, thick molten black chocolate, burnt sugar, molasses, plums, chocolate brownies. Taste is roasted malts, again brownies, burnt sugar, thick black chocolate, some liquorice, some vanilla, quite some sweetness, a touch prune/plums as well, including tartness, but the roastedness and earthyness keeps the sweetness in balance; earthy-leathery bitterness in the finish. Medium carbonation to support the richness. A rich, rather classic non-adjunct Imperial Stout with a lot of complexity. Amazing! Bottle, Lot 265, BBE 04.2020. Just a great classic Imperial Stout, as expected, a bit drier than last time.

33cl bottle pours a murky black with some brown head. Nose has malt, toast, dark fruits, cola, molasses, marzipan. Flavor is port, cherry, raisin, molasses, toast, chocolate, coffee. Finishes full bodied and sticky.

Bottle from Beautiful Beer, Bury-St-Edmunds. Spicey, fruity aroma over the top, with a waft of chocolate. And a boozy hit. Dark, glossy, almost muddy. Thick frothy dark beige head. Light bitter with a creamy edge at first. A boozy bitter kick appears into the finish. Thick bodied. Creamy. Sticky. Low key carbonation. Long, astringent finish. The alcohol makes itself known. A beer two halves: understated at first, then the raw 9.6% takes effect. Found the latter off-putting at first, before I aclimatised.

21/4/2017. From cask at the 26th East Anglian Beer & Cider festival, Bury St Edmunds. 9.2%. Pours black with a lasting beige head. Aroma of banana, roasted malt, chocolate, rum truffle, dark jammy fruits, light liquorice and alcohol, and burnt toffee. Medium to heavy sweetness, moderate toasted bitterness. Full bodied, slick texture, soft to flat carbonation, So good! Also 29/3/2025. Bottle from ABV store, Norwich. BBE 09.2019 which I think makes it a 2015 or 2016. 9.6% abv. See photo.

330ml bottle thanks to Colin. Inky, oily black pour, small beige head. Deep, rich smoky malts, coffee, anise. Taste is pure roasty sweet malts. slick and slippery. Simple stout, but pure and genuine. One of the best.

Appearance- jet black, a half-finger tan head which gradually fades. Looks the part. Aroma- chocolate fudge, vanilla, Black Forest gateaux, coffee, tiramisu, woody notes, chocolate biscuits, slight boozy notes, more vanilla, marshy land. Taste- thick boozy chocolatey milkshake. Leather, vanilla, brownies, caramel, fudge cake, burnt treacle, rich coffee, scorched malt. Mouthfeel is thick, rich and chewy. Sweet dark malty finish, with cherry hints. Woody malt, trace of smoke. Excellent.
