Nice easy dating on the bottle. Bottled September 28th 2016, best by September 28th 2018.
It pours pitch black, small head of tan foam.
I smell cloves, anise, candi sugar, dark fruit, roasted malt, alcohol.
Ditto for the taste. Dark pitted fruit stand out more here than in the smell. Alcohol is manageable. Does it resemble a Belgian style Imperial Stout? You betcha.
To me, full bodied with ample carbonation.
This is quite a treat.

Bottle. Brown color with tan head. Aroma is boozy, molasses, spicy yeasts. Taste is boozy, some raisins and prunes, again a bit spicy yeasts. Medium carbonation. Not my kind of beer.

Bottle from Bert’s Inky thick black with a stingy tan head. Roasty earthy with hints of caramel on the nose. Flavor follows the aroma but adds a bit of wet cardboard like oxidation. Decent beer.

Bottle. It pours black with a small brown head. The aroma has cherries, plum, dark bruit. Pretty fruity with light toast and spice. The flavor is ashy with some tobacco, black cherries and raisin bread. A little syrupy and alcoholic. Very rich and fruity which keeps the high alcohol from being too solvent-like. Low acidity and no acrid black malt character. Overall, pretty good.

0.75l corked bottle brought home from Cask Pub & Kitchen. Oh, this is about as dark as they come. Like pouring fresh black oil in the glass and it has a big but quickly fizzing away dark chocolate colored head. It has a really nice woody vinous dark roasted aroma. Yeah, it definitely has some dark roasted tones this. Slightly salty as well. Nice. Lots of flavor! Been storing this in the cellar for close up to two years now, and I'm glad I did. It feels really round in the taste. It somehow doesn't have the mouthfeel that I expect a beer of this caliber to have and it's a tad higher on the bubbles than I prefer in my imp stouts. The flavors however are all delicious and really integrated. Dark chocolate, lots of roasted malts. Some woody bourbon tones. Slightly salty and licorice in the aftertaste. There's also a fair amount of alcohol, the stingy warming kind in the finish and aftertaste. Yeah, nice. 25.07.2014

Very dark brown. Very phenolic, nail polish, paint, very sticky, barrely, quite a lot of that burnt sugar. The phenols are downplayed on the tongue, but overall quite rough.
