Nice dark brown color with a red glow coming through. I didn’t really smell much, but that may have been because of a little cold. It’s fresh, sometimes a little sweet, roastty and has a light sour finish.

Very dark, reddish black. Dark cream foam that leaves a good lace. Smoky malts, wood and whisky, reminds of Lagavulin. Dried fruits, plums, delicious malts, chocolate and again the whisky tones. Creamy and oily. Smoke, very pleasant smoke. Long, balanced finish. Really impressive. Tasted from bottle.

draft@ZBF 2011: had this one after the blended one, the peat flavour was very upfront in this one, making this one somewhat unbalanced as opposed to the blended one but not really worse, just different, the peat flavour was followed by brown sugar, dark chocolate, oak vanilla and a bitter coffee ending, creamy //// draft @ Modeste: very nice, the finishing touch of whiskey compliments the sweet brown sugar & dark malt base beer excellently, easily one of the best at both ZBF & Modeste ///// 66 cl. bottle shared @ ‘t Waagstuk – wrapped in red papper with a card which gives extra information concerning the beer, apparently Connemara whisky barrels were used which after use will be shipped back & they will be used once again for whisky in hopes that the former will impact the flavour of the next, interesting / pours a dark brown with a strong red hue & a head which sticks only to the sides / smell, wow, did they clean the barrels?, lots of booze, straight up blended whisky with a touch of berries / taste follows, the whisky is insanely strong in this one, I don’t remember it being anywhere near these levels the previous two times, insane like whisky with beer & not the other way around, lots & lots of blended whisky (direction Famous Grouse) & lots of acompaning alcohol, taste like it is 40 % alcohol, whisky with a touch beer, touch of oak cask, wild berries, slight dark belgain strong ale, dark fruits & malts, spices & touch brown sugar, chocolate, earth, tar, hint peat, so much whisky … / medium body / interesting & insane in equal amounts // tried again thx. to Kraddel // does this beer ever taste the same, 66 cl. bottle split & it is like sweet, round honey goodness, damn // good stuff

Draught @ ZBF 2011 (zythos beer festival), Stadsfeestzaal St.-Niklaas, St.-Niklaas, Belgium.Light unclear dark brown amber color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, caramle, chocolate malt, dried fruit, alcohol - whisky. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, peaty malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110305]

From tap at ZBF2011. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is whiskey and dark malty. Dark malty and slight smoked. Wooden, smoked and roasted malty. Lingering smoked and whiskey finish. Sweet and almost sugarish. Dark roasted and smoked finish.

Very dark brown with a mahogany sheen, thick-set dark cream head. Smoked whisky malt jumping out of the glass. Some veggie touches (fresh leeks come to mind) and old wood. Pure whiskymalt on wood, with a melanoidin-rich, non-sweet cake base. Excellent. Smoked as an aftertought, which doesn’t spoil anything. Very slick, alcoholwarming; nice creamy texture. One I intend to drink again.
