Een fris bokbier. De onder gist en de donkere moutsoorten zorgen voor een mooie dropachtige smaak. Het toevoegen van extra hop tijdens de lagering versterkt de hopsmaak en de hopgeur zonder het bier bitterder te maken.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a frothy tan head with a little lace. The aroma is dry yeast with a little malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a malty liqourice palate and a smooth short bitter finish. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Not a lot going on really and very little sweetness. I’ve had much better bocks.

On tap at Cafe Arendsnest. Pours a clear amber brown with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has light frost and dark grains with a hint of coffee. Flavor starts with dark grains and finishes with roasted malts and coffee.

Slighly hazy golden colour, off-white head. Aroma of hops, apricot, malts and honey. Quite sweet flavour, malts, light hops. Finish hops and lots of honey.
Feels a bit like an aged IPA to me. I’m quite sure this cannot be the Lambok, due to the lack of sweet dark malty bock character, and eh.. well, the colour, but the people behind the bar were absolutely sure this is the beer they served, even after several enquiries.

Bottle 330ml. @ home.Clear dark red brown colour with a large, frothy, good, mostly to fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark roasted, caramel, dusty coffee - dark roasted. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark roasted, burnt malt - caramel, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation looks flat but feels fizzy in mouth. On tap at ’t Arendsnest, ABV 6.9%. Deep dark brown to black colour, beige head. Aroma of hard roasted malts, dark fruits, coffee, light spicy. Flavour is hard roasted malts, coffee, light spicy, bit like a Belgian stout. I actually think they switched the Mamba Porter with a Lambok barrel, so I’ll try to get hold of a bottle of this. If not, this is a nice medium bodied porter-like bock. Re-rate: 33cl Bottle. Barrels weren’t switched, this is a Belgian Stout disguised as a Bock. Nice.

On tap @ Arendsnest (edition 2010). Dark muddy appearance, no head to speak of. Aromas of roasted malt & fresh hops. Flavor is roasted and a bit bitter, as the beer warms up some malty sweetness comes up. Finishes mildly bitter with some roast and herbs. Quite a well balanced beer this time from Ramses, and a very nice bock.
