Standard lager, though atypically unpasteurized, with delicate, sticky, moussy head and pale straw blonde colour, cristal clear. Weak aroma, some soft pale malts, bit of wet dog. Neutral taste, light maltiness, hardly any hops in the finish, bit watery and certainly not malty or hoppy enough to righteously be called a ’Pilsener’. But honest and thirst-quenching alright.

Uitstekend bier met licht zoete en bittter hoppige smaak. Mooie gele kleur en schuimkraag. Etiket is inmiddels gewijzigd.

Clear pale yellow, mid-sized white head. Shy malty base, shy hops. Not brilliant.

Catch up rating. One of the better Dutch pils I’ve had, clear, crisp and sharp. Pale golden with decent white head. Normal pils aromas and taste. Better than Amstel and Heineken for sure.

Pipe direct from brewery at Zwarte Ruiter. Blonde and bright. Thick head. Aroma is light hop and clean light pale malts. The pale malt is the feature here, hops gentle and in balance. Considering the source, this must be the beer’s apex.

Worm, Rotterdam tap: Pours golden with a white head. Beer has a bready and grassy aroma. Slightly bitter. Nice light malty backbone. Overall a nice pilsner with a pleasant taste.

(Draught at Café Briljant, Haarlem, 27 Feb 2014) Pale golden colour with dense, white head. Malty nose with notes of grain, white bread and hints of grass. Malty taste with grain, bread and a fairly fresh grassy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight malt sweetness coming through. Nothing special, but a fairly enjoyable middle-of-the-road pale lager.
