There are two schools of thought when it comes to oyster stouts - some believe that they should be served cold and go well with a plate of oysters. We believe that a proper oyster stout should be made with oysters. We’ve used six different grains, including oats, wheat and roasted barley, and Fuggles hops for that traditional stout character. We’ve then added whole oysters, shells and all, during the last fifteen minutes of the boil. The result is a smooth chocolatey stout that leaves you wanting more.

Pint bottle from Favourite Beers, Cheltenham. I really like this beer!! Pretty much black with deep tan head, and good lacing. Aroma has dark rich malt, but also a decent hopiness. The taste also has the roasted malts you’d expect but with a real depth that i guess comes from the oysters.

Pours black with a large lasting light tan head.Nose shows roasted barley, cocoa, soft roasted coffee, a little bready malt. Appetizing.Lovely roasted barley as a flavour, with toasty notes too. Sweetens up a little later on but theres also a faint acidity, presumably from the roasted grainsCarbonation is too aggressive.

500ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty dark malty aroma, notes of cocoa, coffee and grainy coffee surrogate, a salty touch, hints of liquorice. Taste is dry and minimally tart, roasty dark malty, slightly salty, subtle chocolately sweetness, some cocoa and coffee; soft palate, smooth carbonation. Wonderful!

Bottle. Black with a dense tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted barley, brine, iodine. Carbonation is quite lively. Fairly rich with mocha, roasted and briny flavours. A bit of prune in there too. Rather dry and moderately bitter at the end. Tidy and satisfying.
