Despite the twist-off cap, it's showed little oxidation. Instead, pours a deep brown, with just a few bubbles. Sweet malt smell with a bit of brown sugar. Nice, deep malt taste, still a slight edge of bitterness. Alcohol has just a bit of a burn. Does lack the extra sweetness of a usual dubbel, but that makes it easier to manage. Layer of sediment at the bottom of the bottle is not easily dislodged by mere swirling.

Another dive into the cellar tonight. Rich malt smell, with some wheat flakes in the nose, too. Belgian dubbel color is a deep brown, nearly opaque. Hearty, malty Belgian beer taste. Nothing has gone off in nearly 15 years and two cellar moves. Just an amazingly preserved beer.

Darker pour than I expected, a dark brown. Aroma of ripe fruit, lots of sweet caramel yeaty esters and quite a bit of alcohol. Medium bitterswet flavor with more fruit and yeastiness. A nice ape but would benefit from some age.

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Bready malts, prune, raisin, molasses and brown bananas on the nose. Some spice present as well. Sweet and bitter on the palate. Slightly sweet and dry finish. Not great but not bad.
