Bottle from Total Wine, Houston
Black colour with generous, creamy brown head. Mild aroma of roasted malt and alcohol, roasted nuts, traces of bourbon. The mouthfeel is very smooth, dark chocolate flavour, strong roasted malts, light vanilla, quite boozy.
Very good, not impressive.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with espresso upfront, followed by bourbon barrels, and light roast. Flavour is very similar, with bitter espresso, bourbon barrels, and medium roasted malt. Nicely balanced, with a fair amount of depth. Very good.

Dark brown. Thin head. Has some bourbon, some nuttiness, definitely alcohol, and maybe a plummy fruitiness. On the palate, it comes across light, some coffee, but a bit thin and husky. All told, this is a bit thin, light, ok but not great.

The first imperial stout tasting of the fall season goes to Breakfast Exorcism. Imperial stout, Clown Shoes, barrel aged, I’m on board. I believe this to be a pickup at The Cellar in Odessa, thank you kindly. I deliver into my Buffalo Bayou tulip glass and find a totally black liquid and a thin mocha brown head. The scent is a delight, cocoa, strawberry and cut hay. But that is all prelim, I am here for the taste. Semisweet chocolate, ribbon candy, chocolate malt, berries. Nice bitterness in the finish. Anything boozy gets by me. Another fine delivery from Clown Shoes altogether.
