Amerikaanse Amber Lager of Red Amber. Lichtzoetig in het begin met een hopbitterheid in de afdronk, een zachte, moutige smaak en tonen van karamel en grapefruit. Een ondergistend stoombier dat door zijn relatief lage alcohol percentage prima geschikt is als aperitief of als begeleider van Franse kazen en paté. Inmiddels is de Brutus een klassieker in de horeca.

Bottled@chriso pre-gbbf shindig 2012. Deep amber colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruity, floral, mild ripe fruits, earth and some slight bready notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden and mildly floral. Rather bitter in the finish.

33 cl. bottle @ Cafe Olivier, Utrecht. Hazy amber with a white head. Dominant citrus hop aroma with some malts. citrussy bitter taste. Great bitter aftertaste. Another superb summer beer.

Draught @ Kafe Belgie. Hazy orange color, full sized superbly lasting, dense and creamy, off-white head that leaves excellent lacing. Smell malts, light to medium hops, fruityness. Taste malts, hops, very nicely bitter, grapefruit. Very nice beer, ideal on this hot day. Medium body, medium carbonation, very fresh.

On tap at ’t Arendsnest. Dark Lager?? IPA, or APA, yes. Clear golden orange colour, dense off white head. Aroma of lots of citrus hops, light pine, some caramel. Flavour is light sweet, malty, hint of caramel, nice fruity hops, particularly citrus, grapefruit, firm dry and bitter finish. Light bodied, soft mouthfeel. Nice.

Tap @ Kafe Belgie. Dark brown colour, dense off-white head. Nose is light malted, bit of toastiness, bit sweet, slightly yeasty. Flavour is light malted, toasty, yeasty, slightly spicy. A bit light bodied.

Bottle, 6%. Subtle, but refreshing caramelly hop aroma. Cloudy amber colour. Good stable white head. The flavour is caramelly, from caramelly hops. Good clean bitterness. A subtle beer, but nicely hopped and well-balanced.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep orange with a huge off-white head. Aroma is grapefruity and light peachy. Bitter, crisp hoppy, citrusy and grapefruity. Bitter and crisp hoppy finish.

Bottle at Cafe Belgie. Clear dark amber color, tan head with good retention and decent lacing. Subtle aroma of light grass. Tast is extremely malty, which makes it unbalanced. Just a tad of bitterness toward the end. Needs more aroma and bittering hops to call this one an IPA, right now it’s more or less an amber ale.

Bottled @ Kafe Belgie. Currently brewed at the Proefbrouwerij I think, but they will be going to brew in Utrecht at their new brewery, which is currently being installed. Clear amber color, medium head. Lovely aroma of cascade, grapefruit, citrus, some caramel malt. Decent bitter taste. Very nice brew. The beer won its very first competition it entered: "best Utrecht beer" :-)
