Rating #8007, Beer #15 of 17 (8 beers on either side of #8000 plus the magic 8000th itself) Very clear, deep copper, bronze and almost even light brown in colour, with a light orange glow when held up to the light and almost no head at all - a sliver of off-white noticeable. Aroma of cherries, light grain, a dash of oak and soured, vinegar notes along with a touch of brett and way more cherry notes, all slightly soured and tart. Light to Medium-bodied; Very strong soured and tart flavours up front with a bunch of cherries, a touch of blueberry and raspberries and a good hit of oak towards the finish that makes this very soured, incredibly tart, but still complex throughout. Aftertaste shows a lot of effervescence along with a great cherry and light berry flavour that roam definitely on the side of tart and soured, but less in the realm of 'wild' or the flora in this one, as it's fairly tame and soft after the beer as it doesn't taste like the spontaneous fermentation or complexity of full yeast and funk. Overall, a very nice, very soured beer with a ton of dryness, herbs and of course enjoyable throughout. A very good option, with the full sour and tart elements that are usually present with Almanac beers behind this one, but in pure tart ways - with the cherries easily overpowering any sweetness and focusing on the pure tart flavours - in a great way. This was the fifteenth beer of my 8000th celebration, the sixth on the 'other side' of 8000, and was a beer for everyone to try to find, especially if you like sours, as this one is great in showing what fruit can do to a beer. I sampled this 37,5 cL bottle purchased from Joe Canal's Discount Liqour in Lawrenceville, New Jersey on 21-October-2018 for US$12,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 02-May-2020, as Beer #15 of the 8000th Beer Celebration!
