Barrel-Aged Blended Ale - Dark & Delicious
Our Mélange series is at the core of our experimentation with flavors that cannot be achieved outside of the art of the blend or by any one beer. This is one of our original mélanges… at its very finest. Mélange #3 is a blend of three ales with stories stretching back to the earliest days in our bourbon barrel-aged program: Black Tuesday, our Anniversary Series old ale and our wheatwine-style ale. The combination reaches through the bourbon veneer with complex notes of dark chocolate, coconut, dark fruits, oaky undertones, rich caramel character and warm vanilla.

Bottle, 750 ml, from Beergium. Shared with rest of the crew. Dark brown, beige head. Chocolate, dark malts, caramel, nuts, bourbon, quite warming, sweet. Full bodied. Maybe just a bit over the top.

Poured from 750mL bottle (bottled 01/26/2017 - ABV 16.3%). Dark brown with beige head. Lots of bourbon and oak with caramel malt and dried fruit, some hints of chocolate and vanilla. Very good; the only criticism I have is that it's a tiny bit too boozy.

Bottled:
Pours brown with a small head. Aroma is Bourbon, brown sugar, plums, maple syrup and alcohol. Taste is quite sweet and has notes of Bourbon, brown sugar, maple syrup and hot booze.
Pretty good, but beers this strong should come in smaller bottles.

Bottle at Black Christmas 2017
Dark brown color. Malty aroma, fruity esters, candies, banana, and huge alcohol. It appears to be quite messy.
I can drink it, but it's overpriced.

A pour from the bottle on Black Christmas V. Pours a hazy brown with a beige head. Aroma is bourbon and some candied fruits. Similar taste with lots of fruity notes. Nice.

750ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a smooth head. Aroma of oak, toffee, vanilla, syrup, whisky, raisins and ripe fruits. Taste is smooth, stingy, woody and oaky with loads of whisky, vanilla, toffee, syrup, raisins and bourbon. Finish is stingy, sweetish and oaky with loads of vanilla, toffee and whisky, hints of raisins and ripe fruits. Quite complex, heavy and balanced. Alcohol is well hidden.
