Dry hopped double brown ale

It’s not very often a beer gets made to specifically showcase malts, but we have always liked being a little different. Good Humans is a very big and bold Brown Ale that is also dry-hopped with Simcoe and Golding hops. This beer is full of flavor and feelings including caramel, toffee, mild hop bitterness, and the awareness that we are all in this together. Drink a Good Humans and be a good human.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear chestnut brown with a full finger of beige head that lingers. Malt aromas with molasses next to earthy hops, coffee and dark chocolate. More dark chocolate and noble hop notes on the palate. Drying finish. Very nice.

bottle - Pours dark brown and has a nutty, caramel malt aroma. The sweet flavor is similar along with some mild hops bitterness. Medium bodied. Fairly good.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered deep brown body. The hop tone really doesn’t work that well here, giving sort of an oily burnt taste. Doesn’t come together well at all, has a lot of homebrewish characteristics. Shorts might be off my radar if they continue to put out such amateur product.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a dark brown color with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy cream colored head that left good lacing. The aroma was toasty malts, graham cracker and dust. The flavor was toasty and dusty with a sawdust presence, cracker, wood and a bit of fruity hops. Surprisingly dry. Long finish. Medium body. Alcohol well controlled. Disappointing.

12 oz bottle tasted on the 29/04/2016. Cloudy brown color with not much head. Aroma of caramel, malts and light hops. Taste is boring with some caramel and earth touch. Aftertaste is sweet caramel. Next one pleasE!

Tap industry. A darker beer. Mild cloying sweet perfume aroma. Simultaneously bitter and sweet at the same time on the tongue. What a unique combination for a beer, never had anything like this that I can remember. Big upfront alky kick. Nearly flat. Wew, overall experience hides alky well but you know yer catching a buzz at the end of the session.

This brew pours a deep amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt butterscotch and fruit. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, fruit and mild earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a toffee and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Strong brown ale from Michigan, with thin but stable, pale greyish beige head and clear, deep but translucent brown robe with a beautiful glowing vermillion hue. Inviting aroma of mandarin peel, blood orange, chocolate candy, home made caramel, nutmeg, blackcurrant, kahlua, dried forest leaves, candied figs. Pleasantly sweet onset, candied cherry, orange and brown sugar but nothing cloying and in fact quite refreshing thanks to the citrussy quality surrounding it; soft and smooth, somewhat oily mouthfeel, consisting of a lovely, clean caramelly malt sweetness with clear chocolate accent, flowing down the throat with ease and supporting a peppery, citrusy, aromatic and spicy hop bitterness in the end as well as a glow of warming, brandy-like alcohol, which is noticeable even in terms of taste and therefore could have been a bit better hidden. Apart from that, this is a lovely, tasty brew, clean and well-balanced between sweet and bitter, with a delightful warming quality. An ideal autumn beer, glad I picked this one from the cellar on this late October Sunday...
