Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Farmstead® ale is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur.

Tap @ Mikkeller and Friends. Pours hazy light golden yellow with a medium fluffy white head. Aromas of citrus, spices, tart fruit, maybe some orange peel. Taste is tart fruit, lots of fresh citrus, spices, brett. Overall very fresh with a nice balanced tartness and spicyness.

Exceptional saison. Light, yeasty, some apple, lots of straw. Pretty sour for the style. Complex and full of flavours, extraordinarily well made.

Tap pour at Armsby Abbey. Appearance is pale yellow (a bit darker than white wine) with no discernible sparkle, finger-width foamy head with decent retention and nice lacing. Aroma is fruity esters, tart fruit. Taste is more sour than tart, a hint of white wine, barn funky. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation and sour finish. Overall, well crafted but too far to the sour side without sweet wheaty, lemony side to be enjoyable. I wouldn't want it again.

Hāpi festival 2019. Pours slightly hazy yellow orange. Funk, lemon, white grape, floral, slight salinity, slight lime, nice sharp citrus with a touch of barnyard, so much zesty fruit. Gorgeous soft body. The balance on this is absolutely unbelievable. It's so complex yet so delicate. I was talking about it far too much for the rest of the festival but I regret nothing. THE BALANCE!
