Finally, a Surly beer my German mother will drink. She says this one tastes like a bier from back home. Not unlike a Zwickel Bier from Germany, Hell is not filtered and fermented with lager yeast, American hops takes a back seat to the Pils malt sweetness and fresh bread aroma. The color is well... hell (Deutsch for light). It’s fiendishly drinkable, and you don’t have to sell your soul to get another.

Man thanks to Chris! The beer starts floral grainy. Very easy to drink with hints of sweetness. Nice and round, Malty with a nice deeper body. Soft with hints of caramel and smooth malt. Moderate bitter in the aftertaste. Great and sessionable brew!

Darft/Fest. A- Bready, caramel, malty, slightly sweet, cereal. A- Yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Biscuits, caramel, malty, grains, slightly sweet. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, bready finish. O- A little unexciting. Just not really my type of beer. It managed to impart a little flavor on the palate but again, not much.

Clear golden with a white head. Toasted malt, bread, floral notes. Lightly sweet and dry in the finish. Nicely refreshing. I could easily session these all day long.

16 ounce can courtesy of AWISLguy, opened Halloween 2014. Trick or treat! Pours a slightly hazy amber with a medium sized foamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of doughy malt, spicy and grassy hops. The taste is grainy malt, doughy malt, apple, grassy hops. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, decent balance. Nice beer.

Can thanks to Will. Poured into a red solo cup. Ice cold cooler temp. Banana lager esters on the nose. Freezes my nose the harder I inhale. Crackery malts. Nice carb. Slightly dry. Looks cloudy. Tastes like a dry biscuit without butter or jam. Did I mention it’s cold?
