When the clock strikes Midnight Ryder, complex notes of chocolate, caramel, and roast collide with six varieties of American hops to create a resinous, piney Black IPA. After Midnight, expect the unexpected.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours black with a vague tint of orange and a creamy, beige head leaving a neat lacework. Roasty nose with a hint of herbal hops. Rich, sweet chocolatey body with an ashy edge and a dry bitterness - deriving from malts rather hops. More so a hoppy Stout in my book - but a pleasant beer alright. 151013

Can from Ryan. Harsh roast. Decent dark chocolate. Lovely chocolate. Not too much hop. Good

Sampled at brewery during RBSG. From notes. Coffee and citrus makes for a real winning combination. Diggin it.

12oz can from some kind individual. Opaque brown-black body with a big, foamy, beige head. Oliy black malt and a steady citrus backbone. OK, not my favorite example of the style, a little sticky and sugary. Rich and full bodied, certainly not thin or lacking ingredients. Doesnβt quite come together.

Can courtesy of Kermis. Poured a deep mahogany with a broken white tan head. The aroma is grassy hop, leading to a smooth, weak liqourice bitter smoky flavour. A superb and rather unusual beer.

Can shared. Pours almost black with tan head. Aroma of big roasted malt, grassy hops, light citrus, resin and light chocolate. Flavour is over moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

I have had this several times. Most recently from a bottle purchased on the breweryβs opening day. Well roasted malt giving mild coffee and chocolate flavor, as well as moderate hops. Solid palate, and biter finish. I am not a huge fan of this style, but Midnight Ryder pulls it off better than most.

Can thanks to a trade! Pours black with a chalky brown that lasts throughout the beer and laces slightly. Aroma has roasted malts and a bit of chalky pine hops with just a hint of grass. Flavor starts with roasted musty malts with a good amount of pine and hints of grass and chocolate.

Can from a generous trader. Pours black with tan head. Nose and taste of roasted chocolate malt, dark roast, dank resin, pine and grapefruit. Bitter grapefruit/resin and pine finish with some chalky roast. Mouthfeel is a little lighter than medium.
