From cask at The Abbotsford Bar, Edinburgh. Malty with notes of honey and subtle hop. Some fruity notes and toasty malt. Moderate bitter and light sweet. Easy.

Surprisingly this is the first time I've had this on cask. The conditioning seemed good although I was not frequenting a renowned cask beer pub. Clear amber-gold with small white top. Notes of light bread, biscuit, citric and floral hop, easy drinking, moderate bitterness. Yes this still retains that session quality and softness on the palate I recall from the bottled version. I can see why its popular.

Cask at Crown & Anchor in Westminster. Amber orange pour. Creamy beige cap. Great lacing. Buttery toasted malt aroma. Bittersweet flavor upfront. Hints of grapefruit and apricot. Incredibly smooth and creamy. Rich and satisfying, without being overstated. Excellent balance. Yum

March 2002: Excellent cask ale! Rule Britannia!......................................... - which means that this is a well balanced and refreshing ale where sufficient malts are accompanied by a distinct hoppy bitterness, like you expect it from a good British bitter.

Rerate, cask as guest ale at the Fuller's pub in Euston Street, London: Still solid hops and malts, but drinking experience partly ruined by the fact that the beer was served at room temperature (20-22 degrees C) - a beer like this should definitely be served at cellar temperature (10-12 degr. C). Well, most ales should be served at that temperature, actually. But the American waitress who served us was gorgeous!
