American Amber Ale is the second-ever beer created by Rogue’s brewmaster John Maier back in 1988. This tawny amber brew with a toffee aroma, delicate roasted malt notes and smooth finish displays what beer judges call the “perfect embodiment of an American Amber Ale."

Ingredients: water, barley malt (Great Western 2-Row Malt, C40, C150), Cascade hops, Pacman yeast.

Bottle. Dark amber color, some head. Had some balance but it was mostly to the hoppy side of the spectrum. Taste was also hoppy.

A richly colored dark beer full of ruby highlights that throw wafts of hops into the air from a nice head. Fits the pattern of other Rogue offerings well. All in all , I find the Rogue offerings to be quite well crafted and drinkable.

Bottle: Just like an American Konick but much bitter and hoppy. But then you will know what your drinking.

Thanks Joris, that was the one I was looking for. Had a Rogue Ale, scribbled down my notes and forgot what exactly the name was. Comparing your notes with mine this must be the one. Malt and blackcurrant aroma. Flavor has loads of vanilla and hops. Clean and fairly thin. Long bitter vanilla aftertaste.

From the bottle. Brown with a frothy to creamy white head. Aroma is caramel and roasted walnut. Taste is mildly sweet, bittersweet at the end with toffee and roasted grain notes. Body trends light. Easy going, drinkable stuff.

25.09.2014, tap @ In de Wildeman:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, caramel malts, nuts, leafs, grass, "knekk", hops, hints of dried fruits. Taste is slightly dry, weeds, bark, grass, paper, caramel malts, hay, hops. Medium to longlasting bitterness, dry slightly harsh and watery mouthfeel. Fair enough.
