Kriek Boon Mariage Parfait consists of 1 year-old heavy lambic flavoured with overripe cherries, 400 grams per litre. Longer aging in small oak barrels gives it its special flavour. The lambic is bottled and stored in an air-conditioned room for six months of secondary fermentation. Kriek Mariage Parfait has an alcohol volume of 8%. It keeps for a minimum 20 years, and is ready to drink after about 2 years in the bottle. This is perfection in kriek beers. Try it and admit that it surpasses the best wine.
The casks give this beer its fine oaky flavour with hints of vanilla and cloves. It boasts a wide mouth with a warm body and roundness reminiscent of dried cherries and wild tastes. This is soft mildness personified.

A small bottle, corked and caged, purchased from Beautiful Beers, for which many thanks, drunk at Dad’s place while home on holiday. 2021 vintage. Aroma: impressive, deep funk. Appearance: clear Ribena, flat. Palate: medium-bodied and rather astringent, average carbonation; finish is lingering and dry. Taste: very complex and well-balanced, wood, barnyard, pencil, cherries don't really come through. Remarkable beer though - for me, special occasions only.

Bottle at home. Deep ruby pour with a thin head. Nose is moderately intense, deep and rich cherry, some leathery funk. Taste is jammy fruits upfront, nicely rich and fairly layered, that’s why it’s kinda sad how quickly it’s gone, leaving an empty(ish) palate. The acidity is not too sharp, the funk’s there but also not too intensely. Pleasant, but far from extraordinary.

2009 bottle courtesy of the slovak sniper.
Dark, ruby pour, with a big thick pink head. Huge aroma of vinegar, funk, wet hay and tart, sour cherries. Pefrect carb and mouth feel. Finish is not as tart and sour as you might expect, but its still very nice. Loads of cherries and funk. The alcohol is nowhere to be found. Great stuff.

Bottle at home. 2014 vintage enjoyed in juli 2016. Aroma is tart and slightly sweetish cherries, barnyard funk, oak. Flavour is moderate to medium sour and light sweet with a bone dry finish. Good complex funk and oak, lots of cherries. Though not as sour as I like my Kriek, this is an excellent specimen.

Deep red with mahogany hints, quite opaque, not an especially attractive colour. Gets very little head and it disappears very fast. Average to good intensity in the aroma: a soft feeling with a slightly perceptible dough-like base, soft/wet undergrowth notes with a sweaty hint, cherries (probably not as bright/dominant as expected, but definitely there), lighter citric notes with a hint of prickliness to them, Boon's signature almond note. Overall a decently rich, decently intense and quite well defined aroma. Taste notes follow the aroma closely. Medium to high sweetness, moderate sourness as typical with Boon lambics: moderately citric and lightly lactic, not getting acetic notes. Overall a pretty soft, pleasant sourness, with a prominent but not over the top sweetness. Medium to slightly above medium bodied; pretty delicate, quite low, slightly tingly carbonation. Feels slightly soft in the mouth with a hint of liveliness. Overall impression: pleasant, very approachable kriek, but still very much well made and quite interesting. Nice one.

Barwa czerwono-miedziana, zamglone, piana w kolorze złamanej bieli, dość obfita, dość trwała. W aromacie bretty, stajnia, siano, owoce. W smaku wytrawne, kwaśność do średniej, sporo brettów, lekkie nuty owocowe, głównie wiśnie, czuć udział drewna i tanin. Wysycenie średnie do wysokiego, ciało w normie. Bardzo dobre, aczkolwiek nieco wyższa kwaśność by tutaj nie zaszkodziła.
