Mikkel and Brian are two of the world’s most unconventional brewers. By designing beers at various breweries around the globe, they have found the freedom to experiment and innovate, resulting in unique beers that often blur the lines of definition. After having met at a festival in Bodegraven, NL the two realized that their first creations both were called Stateside. It was then an obvious decision to make the two recipes into a new product, packed full of piney, resinous hops, and backed by the esters of a farmhouse yeast strain.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar, April 2011. Slightly hazy orange with a small white head. A lot of pineapple in the aroma, also in the sweet taste. Also spices and some bitterness. A good beer but not excellent in my opinion.

ACBF. Very hazy amber beer, Ghost of a white head. Nice tropical fruit hop nose. Light palate - dry. Dry even malt, somewhat chalky. Mild tropical fruit hops. Mango, peach and apricot - nice but getting lost in the chalky dry background.

Apple and pear aroma, marhsmallow and candi, quite funky. Cloudy amber, thick head. Dry pear with a lemony tang, maltier and funkier in the finish. Alcohol not noticeable. As it warms, very subtle lemon zest, raisin, and tobacco notes appear. A bit over attenuated and subdued, but still a pleasurable drink, just not as good as I had hoped from these two awesome brewers.

On tap. Deep golden with a slight haze and an off-white head. Spicy and yeasty nose, very fresh. Medium body, dry fruity accents, again fruit and yeast. The finish is very dry bordering astringent - more dry than bitter. 140311

Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of hops, paint, malt, alcohol, and citrus fruits. The flavor is very sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, hops, lemon peal, grass, green apples, malt, and a bit of caramel, leading to a bitter finish.

05/03/2011 - 75cl bottle @ Alvinne Craft Beer Festival (2011-85) Thanks to Brian for the sample!

Little cloudy orange to light amber beer, off-white creamy head, little adhesive and somewhat stable. Aroma: citrus, pineapple, hoppy fresh. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very fruity, citrus and passion fruits, touch of yeast. Aftertaste: hops, fruity, citrus, pineapple. Very balances IPA or very hoppy saison, being a blend of both styles I love the outcome!
