On tap at Council, pours a deep dark brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, light roast and some dry cocoa. Flavour is robust, with dark cocoa and roasted malt. Full-bodied and well-rounded. Very good.

Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of roasty malts, coffee and chocolate. Taste is smooth, robust and slightly roasty with some coffee and chocolate. Finish is smooth and malty. Okay.

Draught @ the brewpub. Aroma has coffee and sweet syrupy malt. Flavour has sweet malt, raisins, some licorice and deep roastiness. A tad too sweet, drinkability is not that great.

[2/19/15] Draught at Council Brewing in San Diego. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of chocolate, nuts and roast. Sweet flavor with roast, caramel, nuts, some chocolate and a drier finish. Medium-bodied.
