Donkerbruin tot zwart bier met schuim. Smaak is bitterzoet en licht kruidig met iets van karamel, wat anijs, heel lichte rook en drop. Heel goed.

Dark reddish brown colour with a frothy tan head. Aroma of dark malts, caramel, dark fruit, candy sugar. Flavour is light to medium malty sweetness. Body is a bit thin. Surprisingly easily drinkable for a 10% beer. A nice enjoyable brew, but a bit too thin to make for a great Quad.

Bottle 0,3 ltr: A dark strong beer brewed in the tradition of the great Trappistbrewers. With a taste of fuit and lightly roasted malts.

Bottle at Bierhuys Woerden. Hazy dark brown beer. Lasting beige head. Malty aroma. Bit of shock after 6% beers. Yes some raisin and plums. Yes some hop dryness on the finish. Yes a decent quad flavour etc. Aroma could bd better. Rest is OK but not a quality quad.

330ml bottle [presumably bottled 2012]. Almost opaque, dark chestnut colour with deep ruby shimmer and small, creamy, lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Sweet-ish, dark and caramel malty, yeasty fruity, minimally herbal spicy aroma, notes of dark fruit, plum, raisin, fig, hints of caramel, dark honey, some fresher fruity aspects with a touch of raspberry, whiffs of aniseed and herbal liqueur. Taste is minimally sweet, caramel malty, minimally dry and papery (no real hints of oxidation but probably owing its age), yeasty fruity, notes of raisin, sultana, caramel, dark caramel, minimally bitter, herbal-grassy-spicy hints of aniseed, sage; well hidden alcohol. Surprisingly watery texture, kind of heavy water, a bit like diluted mercury, heavy but not viscous in a way, super-soft, smooth, minimally cloying palate, fine, soft to flat carbonation. Not overly complex, very harmonious, homogeneous, round - sound.

Thuis uit een flesje. Troebel, donkerbruin. Beige schuim. Caramel in de geur. Licht zoete smaak, caramel, prettige zoete nasmaak, de alcohol komt niet te nadrukkelijk naar voren.
