Abita Jockamo IPA® is an American IPA brewed with pale, red, and caramel malts. This copper-colored ale is liberally hopped and dry hopped with Willamette and Columbus hops. The flavor is bold like the “Mardi Gras Indians” who march through New Orleans in suits of feathers and beads.
Jockamo has a flavor that entices and excites the palate. The intense hop character adds more spice to the meal and makes it a perfect choice to team up with many spicy dishes. Cheddar and strong farmer cheeses stand up well to Jockamo’s hoppy character. Jockamo goes well with wild game, grilled meats and Thai or Mexican cuisine.

Bottle @ The Mansfield, New York. Pours reddish golden with a creamy offwhite head, lacings. Aroma of malt, light caramel, bread, little red marmalade, old fruity hops. Flavor is sweet and very light bitter, malt, bready, marmalade, sweet fruit. Medium body, soft to average carbonation, sweet finish. Stale and boring, but still great as its my 3rd last US state to rate, so 2 to go. 220418

I got this bottle in a trade with DLucky. Thanks Dan!
It pours a nice clear orange gold with a 2 finger head of foam.
The smell has good notes of citrus and floral hops with some caramel malt thrown in the give some sweetness. I like the nose.
The taste is at first very bitter with the citrus and floral hops but mid palate, I get some good caramel sweetness along with some earthy malt goodness. It finishes with both some bitterness and some sweetness and the aftertaste is mostly bitter. I'd be tempted to call this an English Style IPA.
A nice brew here. Good medium mouthfeel, medium carbonation, a pretty solid balance between the flavours and quite drinkable. Nice job Abita!
Btw, the head retention was quite good and the lacing was as well.

0.355l bottle @ Tribeca Tavern, shared with The Girlfriend. A crystal clear one. The girlfriend complained that I had to close one eye to see the clarity on this one by that indicating that I have had enough tonight. Anyhow, as mentioned its a crystal clear one. Hard to see the color. Goldenish? Think so? The head is sidesticking and soft lacing while off-white in color. Soft fruity nose. Red fruits. Not too much more really. Dark peachy in a way, orange zest bitter. Soft birch, a little bit of old citrus. Not a really memorable one, but its still a decently tasty easy drinking IPA. 15.06.2015
