Abita Jockamo IPA® is an American IPA brewed with pale, red, and caramel malts. This copper-colored ale is liberally hopped and dry hopped with Willamette and Columbus hops. The flavor is bold like the “Mardi Gras Indians” who march through New Orleans in suits of feathers and beads.
Jockamo has a flavor that entices and excites the palate. The intense hop character adds more spice to the meal and makes it a perfect choice to team up with many spicy dishes. Cheddar and strong farmer cheeses stand up well to Jockamo’s hoppy character. Jockamo goes well with wild game, grilled meats and Thai or Mexican cuisine.

355ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, orangey golden colour with average, thick, fluffy, half-way lasting, fairly lacing, white head. Biscuity, nuttily, malty aroma, citrusy, floral, hoppy overtones. a touch of resin and orange. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty, dry hoppy overtones, hints of orange. Anaemic IPA overall.

From a 355ml bottle on 3/4/2015. Pours a very dark golden with a small to medium head. The aroma is a balance of caramel malt and fruity hops. Flavour wise, it’s more on the malty side, with carmel and toffee notes prominent, though there’s a bit of citrus fruit sweetness in the background. The bitterness is moderate and lacks the usual grapefruit/resin character typical of US style IPAs. Medium bodied and average carbonation. Okay but mediocre for the style.

Bottle, bb 11/15. Amber with an inch of white head that lasts well. Aroma of bitter oranges, caramel, diesel, pine, some odd notes that are kind of like the meaty end of tropical fruits. Sweet with toffee, some more of those fetid fruit notes, pine, Moderate bitterness struggles to get through the sweetness. Not good.

Clear amber colour, white head. Aroma of hops, honey, malts and apricot. Bitter flavour, apricot, honey, light sweet. Bitter finish, light sweet, apricot. Not bad, feels a bit old but still quite a nice drink.

At GBBF 2014. Clear deep amber colour lasting beige head. Toffee grapefruit american ipa aroma. Ok bitterness. A little lacking in the malt depth. Some crystalline toffee flavour. It’s fine. Not too exciting but competent enough. Quite like the slightly toast bitter finish. Ok.
