As the old saying goes, “It takes a lot of beer to make good wine.” With this in mind, and in collaboration with Muse Winery, we present Ortega Blonde, a collision of the artisan beer and wine worlds. Freshly crushed Vancouver Island grown Ortega grape juice was fermented along with a Canadian Pilsen based ale resulting in a delicate, complex, effervescent ale, heavy on the citrus, with a dry, white wine finish.

Bottle - Sweet wine grapes. Clear gold with a small white head. Light grape, bright carbonation that stifles any real taste and a touch of ginger. Too carbonated.

Not sure what the point of topping the cap with a grey wax is... but there it is. It pours an okay yellow with a head that is not exciting, weak shall we say, but does stick around for awhile. Aroma is typical hoppy lager-ness with a hint of hazelnut. Flavour is a fine mix of lemon-ness with nut and caramel in very soft quantities on the back end. Slightly oily finish. Intelligently made, but uneven, this is a good lighter beer and highly enjoyable.
